I just learned my credit score is 701 but they told me there are blemishes.?

I have a 701 credit score but I was told there are blemishes on my record due to old financial mistakes. With a score of 701 will a creditor overllook my blemishes?

Most blemishes will be minor given a score of over 700. You can easily get a copy of your credit report (annualcreditreport.com) contact the credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and dispute any inconsistencies or mistakes on the reports.

If these are missed/late payment blemishes, you will just need to wait it out. Your credit history spans about 7 years, so just keep making good payments and keeping up with your debt. Try lowering your outstanding debts (pay off as much as possible) and keep your available limits where they are. This frees up availability of credit, which helps your score.

With a 701 the blemishes must not be numerous or serious...that%26#039;s a pretty good score. You should be in pretty good shape.

Oh absolutely but it depends on what you%26#039;re using your credit for. They pretty much will measure the risk of the transaction and overlook certain things. I%26#039;m a mortgage consultant for Citibank and we give thousands of dollars to people with far worst credit than you. So don%26#039;t worry, you%26#039;ll be just fine.

You score is very good. Get a hold of your REPORTS and clean up those blemishes. Close out any old accounts. You should have no more than 3 active accounts. Your reports will list all the transactions and activities for seven to ten years. If you have explanations for the blemishes the credit companies will look into them for you. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

Equifax: Call (800) 525-6285, and write: P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374-0241.

Experian: Call (888) 397-3742, and write P.O. Box 9532, Allen, TX 75013.

TransUnion: Call (800) 680-7289, and write: Fraud Victim Assistance Division, P.O. Box 6790 Fullerton, CA 92834-6790.

Your credit score of 701 is mid-range good (see below). No, your score is not high, and no creditor will overlook your blemishes.

Therefore, as soon as possible, you should identify what those %26quot;blemishes%26quot; are and whether they are accurate. If the %26quot;blemishes%26quot; are accurate, you may want to explain them on your credit report. If they are inaccurate, you should correct them immediately.

To do this, you must obtain copies of your credit report from all three reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian -- remember these names). You are entitled to a free report every year, under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act (FACT Act) of Dec 2003. Your banker will give you the website for the %26quot;Central Source%26quot; and will help you read and analyze your reports, looking for and correcting errors (this is REALLY IMPORTANT) and obtaining your FICO score (without damaging your score). (It is very important to have a good, helpful banker.)

Here are the FICO score ranges:

850 = maximum possible

750 to 849 = excellent

660 to 749 = good

520 to 659 = fair

350 to 519 = poor

350 = lowest possible

Good luck.

You were %26quot;told%26quot; there were blemishes? 701 is pretty good... but 760 or above is %26quot;perfect%26quot; in lenders eyes and they%26#039;ll give you better interest rates and more money. So the Citibank consultant who wrote here - well she%26#039;ll gladly give you a loan at a HIGHER interest rate. You can get all 3 credit reports for FREE at www.annualcreditreport.com. While there, you might as well pay the small fee for each of your credit scores just to see them. But with the free reports you can see what the blemishes are and correct the mistakes. Check out my sources for more info on how to do that. If you can get your score to 760 or above, you%26#039;ll save yourself a lot of money on mortgages, car loans and even credit cards.

A score of 701 is good. The blemishes must be old which will not negatively pull down your score. You do need to get a copy of your credit report and make sure everything that has reported is accurate. If you have old accounts on your credit bureau that you truly owe actually paying them will bring your score down. The reason for this is that they have not reported in a long time and paying them off will change your last activity date to being recent which will pull the score down. As far as the comment that someone left about getting a higher rate of interest, this is not necessarily true. If you are applying for a mortgage a 701 is a very good score to obtain financing at a low rate.
