If I start paying the interest on my school loans while I%26#039;m still in school, will that increase my credit score? Or does it even matter since it is deferred until I graduate anyway.
School loans and credit score question?
Paying your interest while in school will help you reduce your debt, but it is seldom %26quot;reported%26quot; by the student loan company. Most of them will report your loan to the credit bureaus but will only note the account status as %26quot;in deferral%26quot;, or something to that affect.
Even upon graduating, and repayment starts, you will find that the lender is very slow in updating their records regarding your payments.
Good Luck.
School loans and credit score question?
Student loans do count as far as credit score is concerned, but every major lender I know of doe%26#039;s not count them as real lines of credit when you apply for a loan.
