It is currently 658 when I was last on myFICO two days ago. The reason I want to raise my score I want to get a new car by July. The car is about $13,750. What are some steps that could help me. I do have two credit cards that I am paying off and I am able to pay more than just the minimum. I am about to get a cell phone in my name. Anything else? Thanks in advance!
I need to raise my credit score by July to 700 is that possible?
You have to reduce you current debt. It is just a formula of income and expenses.

One thing that I can think of...even though July is about 5 months away...Go to your bank or a loan office that reports to the credit bureaus and take out a loan to be paid off in six months (or more). Take this money and place it in a checking account and do not touch it. Each month your payment is due take the money out of the account add what interest is needed for that payment and pay that bill. This will raise your FICO score. Be sure to pay on it for six months before you pay it off.
I hope this helps!!
Good Luck

Good answer above me, just wanted to add that even if you get a cell phone in your name, that won%26#039;t do anything for your credit. They do not report positive payment histories. They pull the report to see if you can pay the monthly bill, other than that they report for non payment, but not positive payments

I suppose its possible.
Why not just save up for a cash car? You%26#039;ll never get ahead making car payments and paying interest.
Your income is your most valuable wealth building tool. No payments = cash in the bank.
Of course the bankers and loyal followers are gonna tell you different.
Debt free is the way to be!

Pay off the credit cards completely. If you are carrying balances of more than 30% of your limit you are hurting your score. Fastest way to improve your score is to pay off those credit cards.
Building a good credit score takes time -- at least a 24 month history of consistent, on time payments.
You might try getting pre-qualified for that car loan at a credit union. Better interest rates and it%26#039;s always better to have pre-approved financing before you walk into a dealership.
