Is a FICO score the same as other credit scores?

i have a membership to freecreditreport.com that gives me a credit score, but is it the same as a FICO?

Is a FICO score the same as other credit scores?

First.. you have to know that there are several credit reporting agencies. the three most commonly used by financial institutions are Transunion, Equifax, and Experian. Not all creditors report to all three agencies.. so if you ask each of the agencies you may get a different number from each of them.

FICO stands for Fair Isaac Credit Organization. This is a company who came up with a formula to determine a score based on the factors being reported on your credit report. So, you can see.. your FICO score can be different with each agency.

I have a membership through Experian.. and they were about 20 points higher than when I went car shopping and the lender pulled my credit. So.. just make sure you are looking at all three agencies.

Good Luck

Is a FICO score the same as other credit scores?

You basically have 3 different credit scores based on each credit bureau.

So there is a slim chance that all three will be the same because not all creditors report to all 3 bureau%26#039;s; some only report to one and that will make your scores different
