Right now I am in the process of paying off my debt. After I am done with that I thought it would be best if I didn%26#039;t get anymore credit for about 2 years. This way all of my debt has time to be processed as paid off and I was thinking my score would go up a bit when it is fixed? Is this true? And is it a good idea to not get anymore credit for about the next 2 years? Also one more thing, I have heard that getting a divorce can make your credit bad? What does a divorce have to do with your credit. I mean if there is no debt left between the two parties(everything is paid off), then what makes divorce make your credit bad?? Any and all help would be appreciated!

first step, pay your bills on time. This sounds silly, but a great deal of your credit score comes from how you pay your bills over time.
Another way is to fix your credit/debt ratio. Say you have a couple credit cards with limits totalling $5,000. If you owe more than 2,500 total, then your credit/debt ratio is unfavorable. This accounts into your credit score as well.

You can improve your credit score with knowledge, some time, some effort and not a lot of money. Start by learning the credit laws in the United States. The big one that will help you is that credit%26lt;!--bureaus must respond to disputes in a set amount of time or they have to remove disputed items from your credit report.

Get a copy of your credit report and go over it with a fine tooth comb. Find the inaccuracies; almost every credit report has them. Write letters to the credit bureaus, disputing the inaccurate--%26gt;items. If they can閳ユ獩 prove it閳ユ獨 correct or don閳ユ獩 respond in time, the items must be removed.
