Try FirstPremier.com for a credit card. Use if for nothing but gas purchases and make you monthy payments on time even if it%26#039;s the minimun payment. It will boost your FICO score tremendously and over the period of 6 months to a year, you can request that they raise your limit if you want. You would have shown a strong payment history over time and increased your FICO score by almost 100 points over the course of a year

(maybe)

Put good credit on top of bad - have you tried any of the following?

1. have you tried a secured credit card? put down $1000 security on a card with a credit limit of $1000 or less... card Will report to bureaus and score will improve - after about a year you will get your $1000 security reimbursed with minimal interest.

2. small loan with a co-signer who has good credit.

3. loan for an investment that the bank hold until the loan is paid of in full. IE - borrow $1000 to buy a $1000 bond which bank holds. Make payments to bank - when it is paid off you own bond. Of course you are out the interest paid on the loan. (I used this method recently. In seven months I improved my score by over 70 points)

You say your info is almost seven years old - you are aware that seven years is commonly the time limit that the bureaus can report information regardless if it is good or bad. (Time limit varies from province to province and state to state.) If your history is that close to being wiped you may improve score by just waiting it out. Unfortunately this may not improve score as much as you want because then you wi be reporting no history which can make it equally as difficult to get credit.

Start negociating with your old creditors and make settlements with them. Make sure you keep your promises and send them what you can afford. If you can, pay whatever the settlement that you negociated with them off all at once so you won%26#039;t make any new bills for yourself. That way on your credit report it will say paid charge off and the credit bureaus will update your rating with that company.

To get new credit established here are a few tricks...You can go to your local bank and open up a secured line of credit. Not all banks offer this but usually the large ones do. Some banks require $500-1000 maybe more to do open a secured line of credit. It%26#039;s like getting a loan against your own money. They will give you either a check or credit card with your secured line of credit amount. Go out and purchase something under that amount and when the bill comes, pay it off. Do this repeatedly until you have established good credit with that bank usually it will take 6+ months or so. It will show up on your credit report as a loan with a major bank which looks good.

Also, get 2-3 secured credit cards established. You may have to pay a fee to get them to give you the card. Once you get the credit card, it may only be a $100-300 limit, but thats ok because you want a small limit to get started with. Then you can start learning how to spend with a small limite and teach yourself boundries. Go out and purchase something small with your credit card and when the bill comes, pay it completely off immediately. Do this for 6+ months or so and should boost your scores.
