US residents: does a consumer report affect a person's credit score?

does requesting an investigative or consumer report from a credit bureau/agency affect a person%26#039;s credit score? and if so, will this request for such report be recorded on one%26#039;s credit report?

(Not a US resident so I%26#039;m not really sure how all of this works. Trying to understand a few things here and there! All help is mostly appreciated!)

I believe this will not affect a person%26#039;s credit score. I am not sure if you qualify for this but US law requires the three agencies to give you a free copy of your credit report each year. http://www.ehow.com/how_2204949_free-cre...

No looking at you own credit score does not effect you credit score
