Will a lost/stolen credit card and as a result, closed account, bring my credit score down?

My credit card was lost/stolen as a result, my credit card company closed my account. They said they would reopen it once they issue me a new card, but I notice my credit score has gone down. Will it go back up to the same score once my credit card company issues the new card??

As long as you have caught this in time, you%26#039;ll be good- the credit score will eventually go back up once your account is reinstated.

PLEASE make sure to contact Experian, Exquifax, and TransUnion if you feel there may be identity theft involved. Reporting to them is a responsible thing to do and will reflect well, as they will watch your accounts for 90 days for any irregular activity.

It depends on what financial factors are in play right now for you. Credit scores can drop as a result of quality long standing accounts closed [might be your problem], too many credit applications, and dings caused by late payments of material obligations. I%26#039;ve also seen my own credit report with a note saying %26quot;too many open accounts%26quot; from accepting offers from credit card companies eventhough the balances are zero. It also depends on how much the score was degraded. A few points should not mean much, but a drop of 100 would be a serious change.
